California road trip Day 2

We left Pheonix at 2 a.m.
Wow, we were those girls :D  Austin on Thursday, San Francisco on Friday!
We drove through the dark, listening to our audiobook.  We were racially profiled and waved through the checkpoint.  As the dawn started coming up, there was a foggy mist everywhere over the mountains.

The windmill farm was mesmerizing, white giants popping up in and out of the fog.
As we came over the mountains through riverside we could see the foothills covered by clouds,  It smelled slightly of smog and dusty rain.  We drove down the 210 and stopped for gas at Azusa.
Driving down foothill boulevard again was a trip.  I remember watching the sun come up over the mountains in the morning from my dorm room.  I will always have a special place in my heart for that area.  It was where I was first on my own, my first independent home.

The barren hills of nothing north of L.A. were really pretty.  As we got closer to San Fransisco we got to experience California drivers.  Then the California drivers got to experience Texas retribution.  In the end, that big flat black military SUV understands that 2 Texas girls in a sports car are going to just zoom on by with a wave and smile!
After we crossed the  Richmond san Rafael Bridge bridge we stopped for a picture.  In hind site, that scenic overlook mave been a questionable decision.  We were right next to the prison!  The air smelled of desperation and loneliness, but we just thought it was the drivers reacting to the gas prices!

From there we drove through the bird refuge marshes.  The road through there looked like it would flood but the road had no signs of the water coming over.

After we got to our hotel, we met up with an old friend for dinner.  I hadn't seen her in over 20 years!  We had such a good time hanging out and catching up over sushi and sake!
After a very giggly dinner (crystal had sugar for the first time in months, oh my!) we said goodnight and were in bed by 10 p.m.
What we listened Fey's bossy pants.  I loved her sesame street analogy.
Racism, sexism, politics, whatever - you can't change people's preconceived notions.  If that person isn't in your way, your boss, your superior, etc then so what?  Play the sesame street game.  Go over, go under, go through.  Don't let someone else's insecurities or biases impact YOUR life and where you want to go.  Don't waste energy trying to change opinions.  Do your thing.  Don't care if they like it!  You don't think women can do that?  DO YOUR THING and give no fucks.
